After a lot of hard work, I was able to fix my mapped network drive. It was a really tricky problem, and I am really happy I was able to get it working again. The ability to map devices is present in most modern IT installations – be it computers or phones. These mapped drives are often used by people to store files that take up a lot of space on a network with lots of disk space, but can still be used locally.

This disk mapping causes various errors and problems. One is to disable the network drive every time you restart your Windows 10 computer. Changing the settings of the network card

  6. Now restart the computer and check if the problem with the connected drive is solved.

If the problem persists, your network card may be trying to change the network speed, which you can do by following these steps (however, this setting may cause unexpected behavior when using the network):

  1. Open the properties of the network card in the Device Manager (steps 1 to 2) and click on the Advanced tab.
  2. Now select Waiting for Connection (in the left scroll box) and change the drop down menu (on the right) to Enabled.
  3. Then restart the computer and see if the display problem is resolved.
  4. You can also right-click on the network icon in the taskbar and select Open Network and Internet Options.
  5. Then click on Network and Sharing Center, and then on your network connection.
  6. Now pay attention to the speed of your network, and then click on the Advanced tab in the network card properties in Device Manager (step 1).
  7. Now select Speed and Duplex in the left scroll box and open the Value drop down menu (right).
  8. Now select the speed corresponding to your network speed (only full duplex values). If the network speed is z. B. is 1.0 Gpbs, select 1.0 Gpbs.
  9. Now click OK and restart the computer to check if the problem with the connected drive has been resolved.

Disable offline files for your system

Many users tend to keep offline copies of network shares. However, these files can cause the above error due to a synchronization error. In this case, you can solve the problem by disabling offline files for your system. However, make sure that sharing with password protection is disabled (this may have been enabled after a Windows update).

  1. Press the Windows key and type Control Panel in the Windows search box. Then select Control Panel.
  2. Now change the view to Fine Icons and select Sync Center.
  3. Then click Manage Offline Files, and then click Disable Offline Files.
  4. Now click Apply/OK and restart your computer.
  5. After the restart, check that the mapped drives are working correctly.
  6. Otherwise, launch File Explorer and open the attached drive.
  7. Once you have successfully opened a drive, right-click on the mapped drive in File Manager and select Always available offline.
  8. Wait for the process to complete and right-click on the network share.
  9. Now uncheck the Always available offline option and restart the computer to see if the problem with the attached disk is resolved.

Turn off the quick-start function of your system

The quick start function is used to speed up system startup. If this feature is enabled, the system goes through a combination of shutdown and delay during shutdown, which may interrupt some network operations and thus cause this error.

In this regard, disabling the Quick Start feature (if you have disabled it in the past, it may have been re-enabled after a Windows update) on your system may solve the problem.

  1. Press the Windows key and type Select power plan. Then choose the meal plan.
  2. Now click What the power buttons do (in the left pane of Control Panel) and click Change currently unavailable settings.
  3. Then uncheck the Enable Quick Start check box and exit Control Panel after saving your changes.
  4. Now restart the computer and check if the problem with the connected drive is solved.

Delete and re-add network credentials in Windows Credentials Manager

This error can occur if the credentials of the mapped drive in the Windows Credentials Manager are corrupt (or if the old credentials are still intact). In this case, deleting and re-entering the credentials in the Windows Credentials Manager may solve the problem.

  1. Launch System File Explorer and right-click on the mapped drive under My Computer.
  2. Now select Disconnect (or Remove) and press the Windows key.
  3. Then type Credentials Manager into the Windows search bar. Then choose Account Manager.
  4. Now click Windows Credentials and remove the credentials associated with the mapped network drive.
  5. Now restart the computer and click on the Windows Credentials tab in the Credentials Manager (steps 3 and 4).
  6. Then click Add Windows credentials and enter your network credentials (it’s best to use your host’s IP address and add that IP address to your computer’s host files).
  7. Now create the network share (don’t forget to enable the Reconnect at Sign-in option and use a different drive letter than the previous one) and reboot the system to check that everything is working properly.
